What do you think about our awesome art work! We made it using salt dough. It looked like cookie dough but not the kind you would like to eat! Can you name the different types of fruit?

Letter of the Week Ww
We have made a photostory together. Room 8 children took turns to take photos of things beginning with w. We also thought of a window, wink, wave and wings which we could do next time. We added some music as we have been busy practising for our school Assembly this Friday. Let us know what you think.

Letter of the Week Pp
We had lots of fun today doing a letter of the week chart in Kidspiration. We all looked at the smartboard and found lots of different thing beginning with p. We also took some photos of things in our classroom that begin with p and will be putting a photostory together as well. Ms F would like us to learn how to make our own letter of the week charts on the classroom computers.
Have a look and see what you think! Can you name all the different things? Can you think of anything else?

Making Toast Writing
As part of our setting the scene activities to introduce our new unit: What's Cooking we have been making some different foods and then trying really hard to use descriptive words in our writing about what we did. Read some of our excellent descriptions and see if you can give us any ideas for how we can improve our work.

A Food Alphabet
Today in writing time we played a game! It was lots of fun. We worked with a friend and one of us had a sticky on our head with the name of a fruit or vegetable on it and we had to guess what it was by asking our friend questions. They were only allowed to say yes or no. That got us thinking about different foods that begin with each letter of the alphabet so we went all the way through the alphabet and made a list of everything we could think of. We couldn't find anything for the letters u, x or z though!
Have a look and remember you can click on it to make it bigger.

Letter of the Week Ii
Our letter of the week this week was Ii and we did find some things to take photos of in our classroom. We had to find a photo of an iceberg and a photo of an igloo as we don't get snow in Auckland. We will post our photostory on Wednesday when we have finished recording the audio. Room 8

Water as Liquid, Steam and Ice
We did an experiment to find out about how water can change when it is heated. It changes into steam and then when it cools down again it changes back into water. We saw drips on a spoon that we held beside the jug while it was boiling. Then we poured some water into ice cube trays and put it in the freezer to keep it very cold. The water changed into ice. But we noticed that it started to melt quite quickly when we took it out of the freezer and had it sitting in the classroom! We wrote lots of words for ice to describe what it looked like, what it tasted like and how it felt.

Letter of the Week Qq
We worked on the letter Qq last week and found it tricky giving little q nice long tails. We practised writing Q and q in rainbow letters, on little whiteboards, on laminated cards. We also formed the letter using little stones and clay. Then we took photos of items beginning with Q. We didn't find nearly as many as we did for C. Ms F is going to upload our photostory once we have recorded the audio and typed the labels on Wednesday. See if you can think of anything else beginning with Q that we missed?

Giuseppe Arcimboldo
We have been looking at some paintings by Arcimboldo. We think they are funny but interesting because they are faces painted in fruit and vegetables! We have made a list of all the fruit and vegetables we can see. Can you find any we have missed? Ms F
